Everything you need to know before your dog's stay at Newport Pet Boarding and Daycare

🩺 Do you administer medications or provide medical care?

We can administer up to two oral medications per day. However, we are not a veterinary facility and cannot accommodate dogs requiring:

  • Injections (e.g., insulin)

  • Wound care, stitches, staples or bandage changes

  • Post-surgery recovery

  • Assistance walking or standing

  • Seizure intervention

  • Feeding tubes or other medical devices

  • Temperature monitoring or clinical logs

All medications must be provided in their original containers or in a pill organizer with thoroughly labeled with clear instructions.

The customer should provide pill pockets, cheez wiz, or other aid that will help entice the dog to take the medication.  For our safety, we do not forcefully administer oral medication.

🐕 What kind of behavior is required for daycare or boarding?

To ensure a safe environment, all dogs must be:

  • Friendly with people and other dogs

  • Free from aggressive behavior

  • Free from mounting behaviors (humping)

  • Comfortable resting in a kennel/crate

  • Calm enough for group play (no excessive barking, lunging, or pacing)

We may require a trial day for new guests or dogs returning after a long break.

🤢 What if my dog was recently sick?

If your dog has experienced vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, or lethargy within the past 48 hours, we ask that you reschedule their stay.  This is to protect the health of all pets in our care.

🐾 What is your policy on kennel cough?

  • Dogs must not exhibit any active cough or respiratory symptoms at the time of drop-off.

  • If your dog has recently been diagnosed with kennel cough, they must have:

    • Completed the full course of prescribed treatment, and

    • Been symptom-free for at least 14 days before returning to our facility.

If your dog shows signs of coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, or other respiratory illness at check-in, we will not be able to accept them for daycare or boarding.

🐜 Does my dog need to be on flea and tick prevention?

We highly recommend all dogs be on a regular oral flea and tick prevention regimen year-round.

If your dog uses a topical flea/tick treatment (such as a spot-on product applied to the skin), we kindly ask that you do not apply it within 7 days of your dog’s boarding or daycare stay. This helps prevent residue transfer to staff members, bedding, and other dogs during play or rest.

Dogs found to have fleas or ticks during their stay may be bathed and treated at the owner’s expense and may be removed from group play.

🧸 Can I bring my dog’s toys, bed, or blanket?

Yes—but please know that all personal belongings are placed in kennels unsupervised.  Items may get chewed, soiled, or lost.  We are not responsible for any damage to personal items.

🐾 Do you accept unaltered dogs?

  • Females over 6 months of age MUST be spayed or neutered for daycare and boarding.

  • We do accept intact males of any age (as long as mounting behaviors are not an issue)

  • All dogs must be at least 16 weeks old with up-to-date vaccinations. (A full Parvo panel for puppies MUST be completed)

  • Senior dogs are welcome as long as they’re mobile, comfortable, and do not require assistance to walk and do day to day tasks.

🍽️ What should I pack for my dog’s meals?

Please bring your dog’s food in pre-portioned, labeled bags or containers—no large food bags or bins.  Let us know of any allergies. We feed dogs individually and do not allow shared feeding.  We do allow treats.

What are your drop-off and pick-up policies?

  • All drop-offs and pick-ups must occur during posted business hours.

  • Late pick-ups and/or drop offs will result in additional charges.

  • We do not accept daycares past 9:30am as the pack is already in play.

  • During drop off for daycare and boarding, please keep your dog in your vehicle until a staff member is able to assist in the intake process.

🐶 Can recently adopted or rescued dogs attend?

To help your dog adjust to their new home and ensure a successful visit, we require that rescued or adopted dogs live with their new family for at least 3 months before boarding or daycare.

📅 How do I reserve a stay?

  • We require a free trial daycare for all daycare and boarding stays.  We do offer a face to face Meet and Greet as well.

  • Once the trial daycare has been completed, we will onboard you into our booking system where you will be able to book and manage your reservations.

  • Reservations are recommended in advance—especially during holidays and weekends.

  • All service fees are due at time of booking.

🐾 Can my two dogs share a kennel?

We do not offer shared kennels, even for same household dogs.  For the safety of our guests we require that each dog is housed in their own kennel during their stay.  We will put same household dogs beside each other to reduce stress.

😴 Do dogs get rest during the day?

Absolutely. Regular kennel breaks are part of our routine to help prevent overstimulation and promote relaxation. Rest is especially important for puppies, seniors, and high-energy dogs.

📸 Will you take photos or videos of my dog?

We love sharing joyful moments! Your dog may be photographed or filmed for our website or social media.

🔁 What if my dog hasn’t been in a while?

If it’s been 6 months or more since your last boarding/daycare, we may ask you to schedule a daycare to ensure your dog transitions back smoothly.

📞 Can I check in for updates during my dog’s stay?

We provide daily photo updates through our booking system so you can follow what your pup is doing everyday.

  • Pet Health and Wellness

  • Care During Stay
